Okay. No sales pitch from me this week. If you read my last two posts, you’ll know why this link is here.
Now, let’s get to this week’s post…
In this week’s post:
One lesson from 2024 (available to all subscribers)
This week’s adventures (available to paid subs)
A creative habit I’ll be taking into 2025 (for readers who keep on reading to the end of the post)
One lesson from 2024
This was one of my most enjoyable posts to write this year. It came after rewatching The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and marked a pivotal moment in how I see me, this blog and ConnectCurateCreate — I got back to my ‘why!’
This is a phrase I’ve soaked up from Seth Godin’s books and blog. He continually reminds me to never forget why I’m doing the things I’m doing — my purpose for being.
Honing in on my why gave me the courage to ditch salaried work and start ConnectCurateCreate. But I’ve found that it can, from time to time, be easy to lose sight of the why. As my attention shifts to finding the answers to my why, I can quickly become engrossed in the search for solutions. If you’ve followed this blog long enough, you may have noticed that my attention has shifted and drifted a few times — most often when the going gets tough with what I’m tackling at the time.
Maybe it’s happened to Seth too. Maybe that’s why ‘never lose sight of your why’ is something he repeats over and over again! I’m grateful he does. It’s now stuck in my brain, and it’s keeping me on track.
When I wrote the Walter Mitty post back in June, I was writing about my love of storytelling and how that love informs my why. I’m here to share stories that matter — it’s why I write a blog, why I make a podcast, and why at ConnectCurateCreate we’re working on exciting new projects to find yet more ways to share stories that folks like you will value. I think the difference between now and then though is that now I have my why mantra. It’s what keeps me grounded. It’s my lodestar.
Not yet a paid subscriber but want to find out how I put this lesson learned into action this week, how I’ll take that into 2025, and how you could too? If you’ve been following along, you’ll know to use this link.
